Frosting on the Cake…rim your glass
There are so many beautiful, delicious drinks that could use a little “bling” or what I like to call “frosting” by “rimming” the glass. Popular rims include are, of course, salt, sugar, cocoa powder, spices (for example on a Bloody Mary).

Rim your cocktail glass

you are unsure of how to do it. Mix that drink has a nice little “how to” at MixThatDrink.com. Basically you want to choose whether your rim should be be salty or sweet for taste. Bloody Mary’s and unflavored Martinis do best with salty or spicy and your tropical or “foo-foo drinks” work best with sugar rims. The best “glue” or what to use to get it all to stick is either s slice or lemon or lime.
You can use your imagination and mix your own, I’ve used cookie sprinkles in different colors, Nesquik chocolate milk power, and spicy rubs found in gourmet cooking stores for Bloody Mary’s. There are several companies that make nice little “cocktail kits” that are easy to use and also are fabulous gifts when going to someone’s house for dinner for a nice change from bringing a bottle of wine.

Tools: There are Drink Rimmers out there that are trays one with a sponge to wet the edge of your glass and then usually another tray for whatever rim flavor you are dipping into. There is also the “Barmaid“, a zippy little product that let’s you rim your cocktail with the push of a button.
If you rather spend your money on SHOES, like me. Just use a small plate or saucer…it does the trick.
Here are some rimmers that are pretty tasty.
